Alvin is a very quiet and mature 11 year old boy who is attending third grade in public school. He lives with his mother Maria Lucila and his father Gustavo and two brothers aged seven and two years. His father is a farm worker and his mother works at home. Their family is very poor and they live in a small shack made of cornstalk walls, a dirt floor and an old tin roof.

Alvin is a good student and is in the honor society because of his good grades. He loves to go to his grandparents' house to do his homework because there he can find peace and quiet with no distractions. With your help Alvin will be able to be more encouraged and attend The Arms of Jesus School to get better teaching and learn about the love of God
