Alex Fernand is four years old; he is a kind, smiling, social little boy. Alex likes to play cars and he rides a bicycle that he borrows from his cousins. Alex has a big desire to go to school, he would like to be a teacher when he grows up.

Alex's father's name is Alex Bala; he is 31 years old and works in a hardware store. His mother's name is María Asunción; she is 32 years old and works doing the house chores for another family as well as her own. Alex has four siblings: Leslie who is 10 years old and in fourth grade; Flor who is nine years old; Sergio who is seven years old; and Jennifer who is just two years old.

This is a close family with a good, loving relationship; the parents share generously with their children. They all attend church together so that they can learn more about the grace of God.

They live in a small room which is made of block, tin roof and a concrete floor. They have running water and electrical service; they use firewood to cook their meals.
