Allan is six years old, in pre-unit class, and ready to join first grade in the coming year. He is a good, active, polite boy and he likes playing football with his friends. In the school, Allan is above average in learning and very attentive to his teachers; people like him due to his charming nature.
Allan and his two elder brothers live with his mother, Elizabeth Katunga, who works as a casual teacher in a day care centre, earning an income of twenty dollars per month. They live in a permanent two-roomed owned house. Their living standard has been very low since Allan's father, David Mutisya, got retrenched from his place of employment four years ago. Then, because he was stressed financially, he abandoned his family, leaving them destitute. Since then, life has been very hard and stressful for his wife and children. Were it not for relatives who stood by them, living conditions would have become desperate, because the mother, on her own, cannot support the family fully, due to her financial limitations.
It is, therefore, Allan's prayer that someone can come his way and offer him a helping hand, especially for education expenses and other basic needs.
