A Miracle Home

on The First Anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Cap Rouge, Haiti

Dr. Sam Martin
A Miracle Home
Mrs. Therese Saint Louis, a lady who became a widow some years ago, struggles to meet the basic needs of her three children. On January 12th, 2010, the little she had was taken from her as the earthquake destroyed her home and she made every effort to survive in a makeshift house (The Director of the Mission confesses he had never seen anything so terrible!). Exactly one year to the day, Mrs. Saint Luis was presented with a beautiful new home as a result of the ministry of ‘The Arms of Jesus Children’s Mission.’ Therese could hardly contain her excitement because for the first time in a year, she and her children would be sleeping in a ‘house’ and she thanked God for providing her with the new home. Haiti Update

USA TODAY: 2nd December 2010 HEADLINE : USA Today examines Why Aid For Haiti Goes unspent

Dr. Sam Martin
"Ten months after the magnitude-7 earthquake that killed 230,000 people and destroyed at least 60% of Haiti's capital city, Port-au-Prince, some relief agencies have not spent the bulk of the donations they raised after the disaster. The report mentioned three major agencies in the US have spent between 33% and 50% of funds raised!" As many both in Haiti, and in Canada ask “ where has the money gone?” The Arms of Jesus Children’s Mission, feels it is important for it’s donors to know that it has spent at this time 86% of funds received since the Earthquake, to meet the needs of the people who lost everything as a result of the Earthquake in January 2010. This does not include the funds used in the (More)

Haiti Update
Good evening Dr and Mrs Martin, How are you? I hope you are doing well and get ready to come and see us. All is moving here. I want you know once again you are a real blessing for Cap-Rouge; Let me explain. We have never received as much rain in July as this year, and you provided rain jackets for many children and adults too. The children have asked me to send you their love and thanks for giving them a rain jacket. Just take a look at the pictures to see the expression of appreciation. All the children are happy and very thankful to you.

Haiti Update
I would like to begin this report by a note of thanks to all donors, and to share what is happening! Since January 12, 2010, the The Arms of Jesus Children's Mission in Haiti has had a regular food distribution program. Hundreds of families have been blessed through this ministry. However recently, we had to cancel the food distribution a number of time because so many people were coming, and we did not know what to do, we were concerned about rioting and the like. So, I decided to have it at 5:00 AM, thinking the numbers would be less and we could cope. Not so, hundreds came to get parcels of food, many people came out to receive a package of food, yes even at 5:00 AM.
